Symantec has signed a strategic partnership with Condyn, an independent information security solutions distribution outfit. Under the terms of the agreement Condyn will develop a reseller relationship with Symantec, delivering security solutions to customers in South Africa and across the wider African market.

Jorina van Rensburg, CEO of Condyn, said: “At Condyn, strategic partnerships are not entered into lightly because it costs money, time, resources as well as reputational risk. After a rigorous evaluation process of Symantec’s product offerings, technical expertise as well as company culture, we are confident that Condyn and Symantec make a good fit. Together we can provide a very strong solutions offering to the market.”   Patrick Evans, regional director for Symantec Africa, added:

“The security landscape has changed significantly in the last three years, increasing the requirement for strong security solutions and policies within organisations. We have seen a shift from Security 1.0 to Security 2.0, which means that hacker activity for notoriety purposes has moved to malicious activities aimed at stealing personal information and money.”

“These attacks have become increasingly sophisticated, targeted and silent. As a software security vendor, we need a reseller community that is highly skilled and technically capable to implement complex solutions to deal with these threats,” he added.

Van Rensburg concluded: “Symantec is a very passionate organisation which fits in with the Condyn culture, and I believe that will drive the partnership forward. I am looking forward to the synergies this agreement will yield.”
