Fujitsu add another product version to their series of Mini-ITX mainboards for industrial use.

D3003-S3 is equipped with an AMD A55E Controller Hub chip set, an AMD T56N Dual-Core processor, and an internal 24-bit Dual-Channel LVDS. This allows for operating displays larger than 12” at the highest resolution in HD quality, something which is not possible with conventional 18-bit Single-Channel LVDS.

“Among our distributors, there has been an enormous demand for the combination of Dual-Core with a 24-bit LVDS Dual-Channel solution. The new version is designed like D3003-S2, but with the 24-bit LVDS solution from D3003-S1. An internal graphics port is used here instead of an external display port,” explains Sales Director Peter Hoser.

The Mini-ITX mainboards are designed for challenging applications in an extended temperature range from 0 to 60 degrees Celsius found in the fields of automation, medical engineering, kiosks, and digital signage. With the D3003-S3, applications with onboard displays (such as HMI) now also profit from the performance of a Dual-Core processor.

The extended-lifetime Mini-ITX boards are equipped with an AMD A55E Controller Hub chip set. Model 3003-S1 supports AMD’s low-energy processor FT1 (eOntario) Single-Core T44R (9W), while models D3003-S2 and D3003-S3 support AMD FT1 (eOntario) Dual-Core T56N (18W). The CPU comes with an integrated high-performance ATI graphics controller supporting VGA, DVI, HDMI, and 24-bit Dual Channel LVDS.

Additional mainboard features are:

– Dual GbE LAN connection onboard
– Serial ATA III RAID onboard
– mSATA socket for Flash storage onboard
– USB 2.0 onboard
– 8-bit GPIO onboard
– 2x RS232 serial port
– HD Audio onboard

The second onboard LAN connection supports a wide range of functions with the best possible alignment of components, even for small Mini-ITX mainboards with a small number of extension slots. The mSATA solution offers tremendous advantages over conventional CF cards in terms of data transfer rates. Mounted horizontally on the mainboard with standoffs, it allows assembly of the mainboards in a housing with only one unit of height.

Several special features guaranteeing the safe operation of the board include the Watchdog. It controls both the operating system and boot process and performs a restart or shutdown in case of problems. The System Management Controller monitors and adjusts temperature levels and cooling fans regardless of which operating system or CPU is used. The System Guard software tool helps with visualising and setting the parameters for the System Management Controller.

Additional Tools, such as LVDS-Settings (for adjusting the Video BIOS to an LVDS panel under the user’s own auspices), SilentFanConfig (for adjusting the cooler fan settings to the customer’s requirements), and CDV Adapt (for flashing customer-specific BIOS parameters without manual adjustment), enhance operating comfort during design-in and system production. All of these features testify to Fujitsu’s comprehensive system competence in the field of industrial mainboards.

The Mini-ITX boards are especially aimed at users who require small form factors combined with high computing power at low energy-consumption levels – and a reasonable price. Designed for a temperature range from 0 to 60 degrees centigrade, the mainboard has an extended lifecycle of up to five years. These specifications make it particularly suitable for continuous operation (24/7) in reliable industrial applications.

The first specimens of the D3003-S3 Mini-ITX mainboard will become available in August. Mass production of the industrial mainboard will start in September.
